MH Rise Monster Guides

Learn weaknesses, attack patterns, and hunt strategies for every monster in Monster Hunter Rise.

Magnamalo

apex

Magnamalo is the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Rise, a fearsome fanged wyvern cloaked in Hellfire energy. It charges relentlessly and detonates Hellfireblight clouds for massive area damage. Prioritize removing Hellfire buildup by Wirebugging, and target its tail and head with Ice or Water weapons for maximum effect.

Fire/HellfireWeak: Ice/Water attacks

Rajang

large

Rajang is one of the most aggressive monsters in the game, a Fanged Beast that enters a powered-up Golden state with devastating Thunder-charged attacks. Its speed and relentless combos punish slow weapons and poor positioning. Use Ice element weapons, target the tail to force it out of rage mode, and bring Pitfall Traps for openings.

ThunderWeak: Ice weapons and traps

Almudron

large

Almudron is a Leviathan that manipulates mud to create walls, projectiles, and a massive mud ball on its tail. Its mud-based attacks inflict Waterblight and reduce your stamina recovery. Thunder weapons are most effective, and Blast status helps break its parts quickly. Stay mobile to avoid its sweeping tail and mud eruptions.

WaterWeak: Thunder element, Blast status

Goss Harag

large

Goss Harag is a Fanged Beast that freezes its own blood into deadly ice blades on its arms. Its powerful sweeping slashes and body slams deal heavy Ice damage and can inflict Iceblight. Fire element weapons are the best counter, and breaking its ice-covered arms reduces its attack range significantly.

IceWeak: Fire element, Blast damage

Mizutsune

large

Mizutsune is a graceful Leviathan that uses bubbles and water jets to attack from range while sliding across the battlefield. Its Bubbleblight status causes uncontrollable sliding, making positioning extremely difficult. Bring Cleanser or Deodorant to remove Bubbleblight, and use Thunder weapons to exploit its primary weakness.

WaterWeak: Thunder element, avoid Bubble status

Chameleos

elder dragon

Chameleos is an Elder Dragon that can turn invisible and steal your items with its long tongue. It uses Poison mist clouds and erratic movement to disorient hunters. Bring Antidotes or Herbal Medicine, use Fire element weapons for consistent damage, and watch for its shimmer effect to track it while invisible.

Poison/FireWeak: Fire element for all phases

Malzeno

elder dragon

Malzeno is the flagship Elder Dragon of the Sunbreak expansion, a vampire-like wyvern that drains life energy through Bloodblight. Its attacks become faster and more lethal as it absorbs energy from hunters. Flinch Free prevents its grab attacks, and aggressively attacking while Bloodblighted lets you heal through damage dealt.

DragonWeak: Flinch Free, Dragon element

Teostra

elder dragon

Teostra is a classic Elder Dragon surrounded by an aura of explosive Blast dust and flames. Its Supernova attack deals massive area damage if you cannot escape in time. Water and Ice weapons are most effective, and bringing Blast Resistance or Fireproof Mantle helps survive its explosive powder cloud detonations.

Fire/BlastWeak: Water and Ice elements

Kushala Daora

elder dragon

Kushala Daora is a steel-skinned Elder Dragon that generates powerful wind barriers and tornadoes. Its wind aura deflects attacks and pushes hunters away, making melee combat frustrating without Wind Resistance. Fire element weapons and Poison status negate its wind aura, and Windproof skill is highly recommended for consistent access.

WaterWeak: Fire element, ignore wind pressure

Narwa the Allmother

elder dragon

Narwa the Allmother is the final boss of Monster Hunter Rise, a massive Thunder Serpent that combines Ibushi and Narwa powers. The fight features unique siege mechanics with Dragonators, cannons, and splitting platforms. Water weapons deal the most damage, and using the installation weapons during the fight is critical for dealing enough damage to clear the quest.

ThunderWeak: Water element, Wyrmstake strategy

A rotund amphibian that swallows gravel and water to bloat its body, increasing its size and attack range dramatically. Attacking its belly causes it to deflate and become vulnerable.

A playful and agile fanged beast that uses its prehensile tail to grab and throw fruit at hunters. Different fruits cause different status effects — some poison, some paralyze, some flash.
