Essential tips for new Total War: Warhammer III players.

1

Start with Cathay or Empire

Grand Cathay and The Empire have balanced rosters and straightforward mechanics. They teach combined arms warfare without overwhelming unique systems.

2

Learn Unit Roles

Infantry holds the line, cavalry flanks, ranged deals damage, artillery destroys from afar, and lords/heroes are elite units. Understanding roles is fundamental.

3

Use Slow Motion in Battles

Press the slow-motion button during battles. This gives you time to issue orders and manage multiple units without pausing constantly.

4

Do Not Auto-Resolve Everything

Auto-resolve can lose battles you would easily win manually. Fight important battles yourself, especially against factions you are learning to counter.

5

Check Unit Stats

Hover over unit cards to see detailed stats. Compare melee attack vs melee defense, armor vs armor-piercing damage. Numbers tell you who wins engagements.

6

Secure Borders Before Expanding

Do not leave undefended borders. Enemy factions will attack unprotected settlements. Build walls in frontier settlements and keep a defensive army nearby.

7

Technology Research

Research technology continuously. Do not leave the research queue empty. Technology provides crucial bonuses to economy, military, and faction mechanics.

8

Save Before Major Battles

Save before committing to major battles or campaign decisions. You can reload and try different strategies if things go wrong.

9

Manage Public Order

Low public order causes rebellions. Commandments, buildings, and garrisoning armies increase public order. Address problems before they spiral.

10

Watch Battle Replays

After battles, watch the replay to understand what went right or wrong. This is the fastest way to improve your tactical skills.
