Beginner's Guide to Lost Ark
New to Lost Ark? This guide covers everything from choosing your first class to understanding daily activities, gear honing, and the gold economy.
Getting Started
- 1Choose a class that fits your playstyle. Warrior classes are tanky, Assassins are fast, Mages deal ranged damage, and Martial Artists are agile melee fighters.
- 2Follow the main story quest (orange quests) to unlock all core systems and reach endgame.
- 3Do not worry about your build during leveling. Skill points reset for free at any time.
- 4Pick up every Mokoko Seed you find. They are collectible items scattered throughout every zone.
- 5Use the Triport system to fast travel between locations. It costs a small amount of silver.
Combat Basics
- 1Lost Ark uses an isometric ARPG combat system with 8 skill slots.
- 2Each skill can be customized with Tripods that modify its behavior, damage, or utility.
- 3Learn your Counter skill. Many bosses have blue-glowing attacks that can be countered for big openings.
- 4Stagger skills (marked with a yellow icon) are essential for breaking boss stagger bars.
- 5Weak Point skills (destruction) are needed for specific boss mechanics like breaking armor or tails.
Daily & Weekly Activities
- 1Chaos Dungeons (2 per day): Primary source of honing materials and gear.
- 2Guardian Raids (2 per day): Co-op boss fights that drop Leap Stones for honing.
- 3Una Tasks (3 daily, 3 weekly): Reputation quests that reward gold, materials, and collectibles.
- 4Abyssal Dungeons (weekly): Group content that rewards gold and accessories.
- 5Legion Commander Raids (weekly): The core endgame content unlocked at 1415+.
Gear & Honing
- 1Honing upgrades your gear item level. It requires materials and silver, with a success chance.
- 2Failed honing attempts increase your Artisan Energy, which guarantees success at 100%.
- 3Use bound materials first. Tradeable materials can be sold on the Auction House for gold.
- 4Do not hone past +15 on Tier 1 or Tier 2 gear. Transfer to the next tier instead.
- 5Research honing buffs in your Stronghold to help alt characters progress faster.
Gold & Economy
- 1Gold is the premium currency used for honing, buying accessories, and trading.
- 2Your primary gold sources are Legion Commander raids and Abyssal Dungeons.
- 3You can earn gold from up to 6 characters per week (gold-earning roster limit).
- 4Avoid spending gold on cosmetics early. Invest in your build and honing materials first.
- 5Check the Auction House prices before selling materials. Prices fluctuate with updates and events.
