Beginner's Guide to Zenless Zone Zero
New to ZZZ? This guide covers everything you need to start your journey in New Eridu.
Understanding Agents
- 1Agents are playable characters in Zenless Zone Zero, each with a unique element and specialty.
- 2There are five elements: Physical, Fire, Ice, Electric, and Ether.
- 3Five specialties exist: Attack, Stun, Anomaly, Support, and Defense.
- 4Agents belong to factions like Cunning Hares, Victoria Housekeeping, and Belobog Heavy Industries.
- 5Build teams of 3 Agents with complementary specialties for optimal performance.
- 6You get Wise or Belle (the protagonist) for free -- they are solid Attack agents.
Combat System
- 1Combat is fast-paced action with normal attacks, dodge counters, EX Specials, and Chain Attacks.
- 2Normal attacks chain into combos -- complete the full chain for maximum damage.
- 3Perfect dodge at the right moment to trigger a dodge counter for big damage.
- 4EX Specials are powerful abilities that cost Energy -- use them strategically.
- 5Chain Attacks trigger when switching between agents during combat for bonus damage.
- 6Enemies have a Daze meter -- fill it with Stun agents to stagger them for massive damage windows.
Team Building Basics
- 1A standard team consists of 1 Attack agent, 1 Stun agent, and 1 Support/Defense agent.
- 2Faction bonuses activate when multiple agents from the same faction are on a team.
- 3Bangboo companions provide additional Chain Attacks based on team faction composition.
- 4Same-element teams benefit from Resonance bonuses for increased elemental damage.
- 5Free agents like Anby, Nicole, and Billy can carry you through early content effectively.
- 6Invest resources into your main Attack agent first, then Stun, then Support.
Equipment System
- 1W-Engines are weapons equipped by agents -- they are locked to specific specialties.
- 2Drive Discs are the artifact system with set bonuses (2pc and 4pc effects).
- 3Prioritize leveling your main DPS agent W-Engine first for the biggest power spike.
- 4Farm Drive Discs from VR Training simulations -- focus on one set at a time.
- 5Main stats on slots 4/5/6 are variable -- look for CRIT Rate, Element DMG%, and ATK%.
- 6Substats matter -- prioritize CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and ATK% for DPS agents.
City Exploration & Progression
- 1New Eridu is the city hub where you accept commissions, buy items, and interact with NPCs.
- 2Complete main story chapters to unlock new features, agents, and game modes.
- 3Daily commissions provide Polychrome (premium currency) and upgrade materials.
- 4Spend Polychrome on Signal Search (gacha) to obtain new S-rank Agents and W-Engines.
- 5The Inter-Knot level determines your account progression -- raise it through missions.
- 6Explore HIA shops, video stores, and restaurants for hidden rewards and agent trust.
