Beginner's Guide to The Finals

New to The Finals? Learn the core mechanics, classes, and strategies to get started.

Understanding Classes

  • 1Light has 150 HP, fast movement, and stealth tools. Best for flanking and stealing cashouts.
  • 2Medium has 250 HP, healing and revive tools. The support backbone of every team.
  • 3Heavy has 350 HP, shields and explosives. Tanks damage and controls space for the team.
  • 4Start with Medium - it is the most forgiving class and teaches core game mechanics.
  • 5A balanced team runs one of each class, but Light + Medium + Heavy is not mandatory.

Game Modes

  • 1Cashout: Teams fight to deposit cash into vaults. Steal from other teams or defend your own.
  • 2Bank It: Collect coins from the map and deposit them in vaults that appear periodically.
  • 3Power Shift: Push a moving platform across the map - one team attacks, one defends.
  • 4Quick Cash: Smaller-scale Cashout with fewer teams and faster rounds. Great for practice.
  • 5Terminal Attack: Attack or defend objectives in a round-based elimination mode.

Destruction Basics

  • 1Almost everything in The Finals is destructible - walls, floors, ceilings, and furniture.
  • 2Use destruction offensively: blow floors to drop enemies, remove walls to create sightlines.
  • 3Use destruction defensively: collapse buildings to deny enemy routes and cover.
  • 4Heavy class has the best destruction tools: C4, RPG-7, Sledgehammer, and Charge N Slam.
  • 5Always be aware of what is below and above you - enemies can open the floor at any time.

Movement & Combat

  • 1Slide-jumping maintains momentum and makes you harder to hit. Practice it constantly.
  • 2Hipfire is viable at close range for most weapons - do not always ADS.
  • 3Use the environment for cover instead of standing in the open during fights.
  • 4Focus on objectives over kills. The team with the most cash wins, not the most eliminations.
  • 5Revive teammates whenever possible - a 3v3 fight is much easier than a 2v3.

Essential Tips

  • 1Always carry a Defibrillator on Medium - reviving teammates wins games.
  • 2Do not ignore the cashout timer. Stealing a cashout in the final seconds is a valid strategy.
  • 3Learn the maps by exploring in practice mode before jumping into ranked.
  • 4Gadgets have cooldowns - track them mentally so you always have tools available.
  • 5Play with a consistent team if possible. Coordination beats individual skill in The Finals.
