Dungeon Guide

Strategies and tips for every dungeon in Cult of the Lamb, from Darkwood to the Silk Cradle.

Darkwood -- The First Crusade

  • 1Darkwood is the introductory dungeon with the weakest enemies -- use it to learn combat patterns.
  • 2Leshy is the Bishop of Darkwood; study his projectile patterns and dodge between barrages.
  • 3Prioritize weapon rooms over tarot rooms on your first runs to build reliable damage output.
  • 4Collect follower forms here early -- Darkwood offers several unique animal follower types.
  • 5Return to Darkwood even after clearing it to farm resources and recruit additional followers.

Anura -- The Frog Swamp

  • 1Anura introduces ranged enemies and poison mechanics -- avoid standing in green puddles.
  • 2Heket, the Bishop of Anura, uses wide-arc tongue attacks; position yourself at diagonal angles.
  • 3Bring healing tarot cards for this dungeon since poison damage can stack rapidly.
  • 4Explosive frog enemies telegraph their attacks with a red glow -- dodge immediately when you see it.
  • 5Anura resources include rare crafting materials needed for mid-tier building upgrades.

Anchordeep -- The Ocean Depths

  • 1Anchordeep enemies hit significantly harder than previous dungeons -- prioritize defensive tarot cards.
  • 2Kallamar, the Bishop of Anchordeep, teleports frequently; save your curse attacks for when he pauses.
  • 3Underwater sections limit your movement -- use ranged curses or fast weapons to compensate.
  • 4Treasure rooms in Anchordeep contain some of the best tarot cards and weapon blueprints.
  • 5Clear enemy rooms quickly to avoid the wave-based reinforcement mechanic in later chambers.

Silk Cradle -- The Spider Nest

  • 1Silk Cradle is the most difficult standard dungeon with spider enemies that swarm aggressively.
  • 2Shamura, the final Bishop, has multiple phases -- learn each phase pattern before attempting damage.
  • 3Web traps slow your movement dramatically; break them immediately or dodge around them.
  • 4Bring your best tarot loadout and a high-damage weapon -- Silk Cradle punishes underprepared runs.
  • 5Completing Silk Cradle unlocks the endgame progression path and additional cult upgrades.

General Combat Tips

  • 1Dodge-rolling provides invincibility frames -- use them through enemy attacks rather than away from them.
  • 2Curse abilities are your ranged option; save them for flying enemies or dangerous elite encounters.
  • 3Weapon speed matters more than raw damage in most situations -- fast weapons allow more dodge windows.
  • 4Always clear every room in a dungeon to maximize follower, resource, and tarot card drops.
  • 5Fleece selection before each crusade changes your run dramatically -- experiment with different options.
