Tunic is designed for exploration. Walk behind every wall, check every corner, and try interacting with everything. Many paths are hidden by the isometric camera.
Collect Manual Pages
The in-game manual is your most important guide. Pages reveal mechanics, maps, item locations, and puzzle solutions. They are found throughout the world.
Dodge Roll Is Key
Your dodge roll has invincibility frames. Time dodges to phase through enemy attacks. Stamina management matters -- do not spam dodge.
Use the Map
Manual pages reveal the map. Mark areas you cannot access yet and return later with new items. Many areas have multiple entrances discovered through exploration.
Upgrade at Fox Shrines
Fox shrines are your save points and upgrade stations. Use currency to increase stats like HP, attack, defense, stamina, and magic.
Read the Manual Carefully
The manual is written in an alien language but the pictures tell the story. Some pages contain hidden input codes that unlock secrets when entered in-game.
Use Lock-On for Tough Enemies
Lock on to enemies for precise dodge timing and attack tracking. Switch targets quickly in group fights to manage threats.
Save Firebombs for Bosses
Firebombs deal significant damage. Save them for boss fights and mini-bosses rather than using them on regular enemies.
Revisit Areas With New Items
Each new item opens previously inaccessible paths. The magic orb, laurels, and lantern each unlock multiple new areas throughout the game.
No Shame in Accessibility Options
Tunic offers accessibility options including no-fail mode and infinite stamina. Use them if you get stuck -- the puzzles and exploration are the real challenge.
