Essential tips for new Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous players.
Start on Core or Normal
Core difficulty follows tabletop rules. Normal gives bonuses to your party. Avoid Hard/Unfair on first playthrough as enemy stats are inflated.
Buff Before Every Fight
Pre-buffing is essential. Cast Haste, Shield, Mage Armor, Bless, and other long-duration buffs before engaging. This is not optional on higher difficulties.
AC Stacking Matters
Different AC bonuses stack: Armor, Shield, Deflection, Natural Armor, Dodge, Size. Understanding which stack and which overlap is crucial for tanking.
Align to Your Mythic Path
Choose your alignment based on your desired mythic path. Angel needs Good, Demon needs Evil, Lich needs Evil, Azata needs Chaotic Good. Plan ahead.
Manage the Crusade
The crusade management layer is separate from the RPG. Build armies, recruit units, and expand territory. Auto-crusade option exists if you find it tedious.
Save Often and Rotate Saves
Some decisions are permanent and can lock you out of content. Keep multiple saves. The game can also be buggy, so save before major events.
Use Turn-Based Mode for Hard Fights
Toggle between real-time with pause and turn-based mode. Turn-based gives you precise control for difficult encounters.
Party Composition Matters
You need a tank (high AC), healer (Daeran/Sosiel), arcane caster (Nenio), buffer (Ember), and damage dealers. Cover all roles for balanced gameplay.
Respec Freely
You can respec any companion at Hilor in your war camp. This costs gold but lets you fix suboptimal builds. Use it liberally.
Complete Companion Quests
Companion quests affect endings and can unlock powerful abilities. Some quests are time-sensitive and can be failed if you wait too long.
