Beginner's Guide to Noita
Noita is brutally difficult but deeply rewarding. This guide covers wand basics, perks, survival strategies, and Holy Mountain rules.
Core Mechanics
- 1Noita is a physics-based roguelite where every pixel is simulated. Fire spreads, water flows, and explosions destroy terrain.
- 2You die in one run and start over. Progress is measured by knowledge, not items.
- 3The game is procedurally generated but biome order is always the same: Mines, Coal Pits, Snowy Depths, and so on.
- 4You start with a basic wand, a bomb, and a flask of water. Use them wisely.
- 5Kicking is a free attack. Use it to push enemies into hazards or stun them briefly.
Wand Basics
- 1Wands are your primary weapons. Pick up new wands from pedestals and enemy drops.
- 2You can only edit wands at Holy Mountains between biomes. Plan your builds there.
- 3Pay attention to shuffle, cast delay, and recharge time when choosing wands.
- 4Place damage spells after modifier spells. Modifiers affect the next projectile spell.
- 5A wand with low cast delay and many spell slots is generally the best foundation.
Perks
- 1You choose one perk at each Holy Mountain. Choose carefully as most are permanent.
- 2Explosion Immunity and Fire Immunity remove two of the most common causes of death.
- 3Extra Life gives you a second chance. Prioritize it early.
- 4Avoid Tinker with Wands Everywhere early on. It removes the incentive to visit Holy Mountains safely.
- 5Some perks stack. Picking the same perk multiple times can amplify its effect.
Survival Tips
- 1Avoid standing in liquids. Many liquids are toxic, flammable, or polymorphic.
- 2Polymorphine turns you into a random creature. Drop your flask if it contains polymorphine.
- 3Always check above and below before moving. Enemies can ambush you from any direction.
- 4Use the environment. Kick lanterns, shoot explosive barrels, and flood enemies with water.
- 5Retreating is almost always better than fighting multiple enemies at once.
Holy Mountain Etiquette
- 1Do not break the borders of the Holy Mountain. The guardian (Stevari) will attack.
- 2Edit wands, buy spells, and choose perks before leaving.
- 3Health is fully restored upon entering a Holy Mountain.
- 4If the ceiling starts collapsing, leave immediately. You angered the gods.
- 5You can safely teleport out using a Teleport Bolt without angering the gods.
