DOOM Eternal Resource Guide

Master the combat loop. Health, armor, ammo management, Chainsaw, and Flame Belch strategies.

Health Management

  • 1Glory Kills are your primary health source -- staggered demons glow blue/orange when ready for a kill.
  • 2The longer you wait before Glory Killing a staggered demon, the more health it drops.
  • 3Health pickups are scattered throughout arenas but are unreliable -- Glory Kills are consistent.
  • 4The Blood Punch ability on staggered Super-Heavy demons drops massive health and armor pickups.
  • 5Upgrade the Praetor Suit health capacity as early as possible to increase your survivability buffer.

Armor Shards

  • 1The Flame Belch sets demons on fire, causing them to drop armor shards as they take damage.
  • 2Flame Belch has a short cooldown -- use it on groups of Fodder demons for maximum armor recovery.
  • 3The Meat Hook on the Super Shotgun also sets demons on fire, generating armor on grapple contact.
  • 4Combining Flame Belch with an AoE weapon (Rocket Launcher, Frag Grenade) generates armor from multiple demons at once.
  • 5Armor is your first line of defense -- keep it topped up with regular Flame Belch usage between Glory Kills.

Ammo Switching

  • 1DOOM Eternal deliberately limits ammo capacity -- you must constantly switch weapons to avoid running dry.
  • 2Never dump all your ammo into a single weapon. Spread damage across your arsenal to stay flexible.
  • 3The Chainsaw is your primary ammo refill tool -- always keep at least one fuel pip in reserve.
  • 4Different weapons share ammo pools: Shotgun shells feed both Combat Shotgun and Super Shotgun.
  • 5Upgrade ammo capacity through Praetor Suit upgrades and Sentinel Crystals to reduce switching pressure.

Chainsaw Usage

  • 1The Chainsaw passively regenerates one fuel pip -- always have a Fodder demon in mind for emergency ammo.
  • 2Fodder demons cost 1 fuel pip, Heavy demons cost 3, and Super-Heavy demons cost 5 (rarely worth it).
  • 3Chainsawing a demon drops a full spread of ammo for every weapon type -- it completely restocks you.
  • 4Keep Zombies and Unwilling alive in arenas as Chainsaw targets for guaranteed ammo refills.
  • 5Never use all 3 fuel pips on a Heavy demon unless you are confident you can survive without the emergency refill.

Flame Belch Strategies

  • 1Flame Belch has two charges and recharges over time -- use it frequently rather than hoarding charges.
  • 2Flame Belch + Frag Grenade on a group of Fodder demons can generate 100+ armor in seconds.
  • 3Burning demons continue to drop armor as they take damage from any source -- shoot them after Flame Belch.
  • 4The Ice Bomb freezes demons in place, allowing you to Flame Belch and then shatter them for armor and health.
  • 5In tight situations, Flame Belch a single Fodder demon and Glory Kill it for both health and armor simultaneously.
