Death Stranding Enemy Guide
Learn about BTs, MULEs, and other threats in Death Stranding.
BTs (Beached Things)
- 1BTs appear during Timefall. Hold your breath and move slowly when the odradek spins.
- 2Hematic weapons (made from Sam's blood) are the primary way to fight BTs.
- 3If caught by a BT, you are dragged into a boss fight. Use hematic grenades to escape.
- 4BT areas can be avoided entirely with careful routing and BT Deterrent Posts.
MULEs
- 1MULEs are hostile porters who steal cargo. They detect packages with sensors.
- 2The Bola Gun is the safest non-lethal way to incapacitate MULEs.
- 3Killing a MULE causes a voidout -- always use non-lethal methods.
- 4MULE camps contain valuable materials and vehicles that can be commandeered.
Homo Demens
- 1Homo Demens terrorists are more aggressive than MULEs and carry lethal weapons.
- 2They appear in later chapters and require more tactical combat approaches.
- 3Unlike MULEs, Homo Demens actively try to kill Sam, not just steal cargo.
- 4Stealth approaches with the Strand are effective against small groups.
