Beginner's Guide to Remnant 2
New to Remnant 2? This guide covers archetypes, combat basics, progression, and multiplayer tips to get you started.
Getting Started
- 1Choose your starting archetype carefully. Handler is great for solo, Medic for coop, and Challenger for aggressive players.
- 2The world is procedurally generated. Your playthrough will have different dungeons, bosses, and events than other players.
- 3Explore thoroughly. Hidden rooms, breakable walls, and side paths contain valuable loot and quest items.
- 4Talk to every NPC in Ward 13, the hub area. They sell weapons, armor, and unlock crafting options.
- 5Checkpoints (World Stones) fully restore health and ammo but also respawn all enemies.
Combat Fundamentals
- 1Remnant 2 is a third-person shooter with souls-like difficulty. Dodge timing is critical.
- 2You carry a long gun, a handgun, and a melee weapon. Switch between them based on enemy range.
- 3Weak spots (usually glowing areas) deal bonus damage. Learn each enemy type weak spot location.
- 4Weapon mods are special abilities that charge by dealing damage. Use them frequently, not just on bosses.
- 5Stamina management matters. Do not spam dodge or you will be caught without stamina during boss attacks.
Progression & Upgrading
- 1Upgrade weapons at Rigs in Ward 13 using Iron and Forged Iron. Weapon level increases base damage.
- 2Armor provides damage reduction and weight. Heavier armor slows dodge but increases survivability.
- 3Trait points are earned by defeating bosses and finding Tomes of Knowledge. Spend them on traits that match your build.
- 4Crafting boss materials at McCabe creates unique weapons and mods. Save materials until you decide what to craft.
- 5Scrap is the primary currency. Sell duplicate materials and unwanted items to vendors.
Multiplayer & Coop
- 1Remnant 2 supports up to 3-player coop. Difficulty scales with player count.
- 2The host player world determines the dungeons and events. Joining a friend means playing their generated world.
- 3You keep all loot, experience, and trait points earned in another player world.
- 4Communication is key for boss fights. Some bosses have mechanics that require coordination.
- 5If you die in coop, teammates can revive you within a time window before you respawn at the checkpoint.
