PUBG Beginner's Guide
New to PUBG: Battlegrounds? This guide covers everything you need to know to get started and earn your first chicken dinner.
The Basics
Game Overview
PUBG is a battle royale game where up to 100 players parachute onto an island, scavenge for weapons and equipment, and fight to be the last one standing. The play area shrinks over time, forcing players into closer encounters.
Landing & Parachuting
Choose your landing spot on the map while in the plane. Drop early for hot zones with better loot and more fights, or drop late to quieter areas for safer looting. Aim for rooftops when possible for faster building entry.
Looting Essentials
Prioritize a weapon, armor (vest and helmet), healing items, and ammo. Use Tab to quickly manage your inventory. Pick up attachments that fit your weapons and discard unnecessary items to save space.
Combat Tips
Peek and Fire
Use Q and E to lean around cover. Never stand still in the open. Peek, take your shot, then return to cover.
Sound Awareness
Footsteps, gunshots, and vehicle sounds reveal enemy positions. Use headphones and learn to distinguish distance and direction from audio cues.
Recoil Control
Pull your mouse down while spraying to control vertical recoil. Each weapon has a unique spray pattern. Practice in training mode.
Zone Management
Always be aware of the blue zone timer. Move to the safe zone early to choose a strong position rather than running from the blue at the last second.
Vehicle Usage
Vehicles provide fast rotations but are loud and attract attention. Use them for long rotations, but ditch them when approaching the final circles.
Healing & Boost
Use bandages for minor damage, First Aid Kits to restore to 75% health, and Med Kits for full heal. Boost items (Energy Drinks, Painkillers) provide passive healing and speed.
Survival Strategies
Use Cover Effectively
Always position yourself near hard cover (rocks, walls, trees). Avoid running across open fields when possible. Use terrain elevation to your advantage.
Third-Person Advantage
In TPP mode, use the camera to peek around corners and over walls without exposing yourself. Hold Alt to free-look while running.
End-Game Positioning
In final circles, positioning wins games. Arrive early, hold a strong position, and let other players fight. Engage only when necessary.
Know When to Fight
Not every enemy needs to be engaged. Consider your position, the zone, your health, and ammo before starting a fight. Sometimes letting enemies pass is the smart play.
