Battle tactics, formations, and combat strategies.
Unit Counters
Anti-Large beats large units, Anti-Infantry beats infantry. Charge bonus matters for cavalry. Armor-piercing damage bypasses armor. Always check unit stats before engagement.
Flanking and Rear Charges
Attacking from the sides or rear deals bonus damage and causes morale penalties. Cavalry excels at rear charges. Never leave your ranged units unprotected.
Magic Usage
Magic can turn battles. Use vortex spells on clumped enemies, buff spells on elite units, and debuffs on enemy lords. Manage Winds of Magic carefully.
Terrain Matters
Forests hide ambushers. Hills give ranged units line of sight. Rivers slow movement. Use the deployment phase to position units on favorable terrain.
Lord Sniping
Killing the enemy lord causes massive morale penalties across their army. Use fast units, magic, or flying units to target enemy lords early.
Hammer and Anvil
Pin enemies with durable infantry (the anvil), then charge cavalry into their rear (the hammer). This is the fundamental combined arms tactic.
Artillery Positioning
Place artillery on hills with clear lines of fire. Protect them with infantry screens. Target enemy artillery, large monsters, or infantry blobs.
Monster Management
Large monsters are vulnerable to focused ranged fire and anti-large units. Cycle-charge them rather than leaving them in prolonged melee combat.
