Beginner's Guide

Learn to catch Pals, build bases, and survive in Palworld.

Getting Started

  • 1Craft a Workbench immediately using Wood and Stone from the ground.
  • 2Build a Pal Sphere as soon as possible to start catching Pals.
  • 3Weaken Pals before throwing spheres - lower HP means higher catch rate.
  • 4Set up a Palbox to establish your first base and manage your Pals.
  • 5Craft a Wooden Club or Stone Pickaxe for self-defense.
  • 6Collect Lifmunk Effigies to increase your Pal capture rate.

Catching & Managing Pals

  • 1Throw Pal Spheres at the back of a Pal for a catch rate bonus.
  • 2Different sphere tiers increase catch rate - upgrade as you level up.
  • 3Each Pal has Work Suitabilities - match them to base tasks.
  • 4Pals need food - keep Feed Boxes stocked or they stop working.
  • 5Resting at Hot Springs restores Pal SAN (sanity/happiness).
  • 6You can have up to 5 Pals in your party for combat and exploration.

Base Building Basics

  • 1Place your Palbox on flat terrain to define your base area.
  • 2Build walls, a roof, and a bed for shelter during nighttime.
  • 3Set up a Berry Plantation for reliable food production.
  • 4Assign Pals with Planting, Watering, and Gathering for automation.
  • 5Build crafting stations near each other to reduce Pal travel time.
  • 6Upgrade from Wood to Stone structures for durability.

Combat & Exploration

  • 1Ride mountable Pals (Rushoar, Eikthyrdeer) for faster exploration.
  • 2Flying Pals (Nitewing, Vanwyrm) unlock after catching them mid-game.
  • 3Use element advantages: Water beats Fire, Fire beats Grass, etc.
  • 4Dodge-roll to avoid attacks - it has invincibility frames.
  • 5Boss Pals guard fast travel towers - defeat them to unlock the tower.
  • 6Night-time spawns different Pals than daytime in many areas.

Progression Tips

  • 1Spend Technology Points on essential items first (spheres, structures, workbenches).
  • 2Complete Pal Deck entries by catching each Pal species at least once.
  • 3Explore dungeons for rare Pals, loot, and experience.
  • 4Breeding lets you create powerful Pals with specific traits.
  • 5Level up your character to unlock stronger equipment and technology.
  • 6Join or set up a multiplayer server for cooperative gameplay.
