Tanks (4)
Paladin (PLD)
A structured rotation alternating physical and magical burst windows. PLD rewards planning and has the most forgiving tank gameplay with self-healing and strong mitigation.
Warrior (WAR)
Simple but satisfying. Build gauge, enter Inner Release, spam Fell Cleave. WAR is the best beginner tank with forgiving self-healing and a straightforward rotation.
Dark Knight (DRK)
Manage two resources (MP and Blood Gauge) while keeping Darkside active. TBN is the most powerful short shield in the game, rewarding good timing with free damage.
Gunbreaker (GNB)
The most DPS-like tank with an intense burst window. No Mercy requires precise oGCD weaving with Gnashing Fang and Continuation. Rewards players who enjoy fast-paced, button-heavy gameplay.
Healers (4)
White Mage (WHM)
Simple and effective. Glare spam for damage, Lily heals for efficiency, and the most powerful emergency healing toolkit. The best starting healer for new players.
Scholar (SCH)
Plan ahead with shields and fairy abilities. Manage Aetherflow between damage and healing. SCH rewards proactive healers who can predict incoming damage.
Astrologian (AST)
The busiest healer with constant card management alongside healing duties. AST rewards multitasking and has the highest skill ceiling among healers.
Sage (SGE)
Deal damage to heal. Kardia passively heals the tank while you DPS. Manage Addersgall for efficient healing. SGE feels closest to a DPS job among healers.
Melee DPS (5)
Monk (MNK)
Rapid GCD with positional requirements. Build Beast Chakras through combos, then spend them on powerful Blitz finishers. Very high APM with constant movement.
Dragoon (DRG)
Long, structured combo with dramatic jump attacks. Manage Eye gauge to enter Life of the Dragon for burst damage. DRG has a predictable rotation that rewards consistency.
Ninja (NIN)
High skill ceiling with Mudra inputs for ninjutsu. Trick Attack creates the most important raid buff window. NIN rewards precise execution with tight burst phases.
Samurai (SAM)
Pure damage dealer. Build Sen through combos, unleash powerful iaijutsu. No party buffs means every point of personal DPS matters. Satisfying, weighty attacks.
Reaper (RPR)
Build two resources, then transform for powerful burst. Enshroud is visually spectacular and mechanically satisfying. The most accessible melee DPS for new players.
Physical Ranged DPS (3)
Bard (BRD)
Proc-based, reactive gameplay. Maintain DoTs and songs while responding to Repertoire procs. Full mobility with no cast times. Lots of party utility.
Machinist (MCH)
Structured burst windows with Wildfire + Hypercharge. Summon Automaton Queen for timed burst. No RNG, no procs -- pure execution. The simplest ranged DPS.
Dancer (DNC)
Proc-based with dance burst windows. Simple but impactful -- Technical Step is one of the strongest raid buffs. Low personal DPS but huge party contribution.
Magical Ranged DPS (3)
Black Mage (BLM)
Turret caster with the highest damage ceiling. Managing Astral Fire/Umbral Ice while maintaining cast uptime is the core challenge. Extremely rewarding to master, punishing to learn.
Summoner (SMN)
Very mobile caster with a clear rotation cycle. Summon Bahamut/Phoenix for burst, then cycle primals. Almost entirely instant casts make SMN the easiest caster to play.
Red Mage (RDM)
Build mana through casting, then dash in for a stylish melee combo. Dualcast makes every other spell instant. The ultimate prog and recovery job with instant raises.
