Beginner's Guide to 7 Days to Die

Survive the zombie apocalypse. This guide covers your first week from Day 1 through your first Blood Moon horde night.

Day 1: Immediate Survival

  • 1Punch grass and small stones to get Plant Fibers and Small Stones.
  • 2Craft a Stone Axe immediately for gathering wood and stone.
  • 3Loot nearby buildings for food, water, and basic supplies.
  • 4Find or build a shelter before nightfall - zombies run at night.

Days 2-3: Establishing a Base

  • 1Choose a POI (existing building) as your temporary base.
  • 2Reinforce the ground floor and block all entrances except one.
  • 3Craft a Campfire to cook food and boil water.
  • 4Start upgrading wood frames to cobblestone for better defense.
  • 5Loot nearby neighborhoods for better gear.
  • 6Find and complete Trader quests for rewards and reputation.

Days 4-6: Preparing for Horde Night

  • 1Build a Workbench as soon as you have the materials.
  • 2Craft a Forge to smelt iron and create forged iron items.
  • 3Craft Iron Spikes and place them around your base.
  • 4Stockpile ammunition, medical supplies, and food.
  • 5Upgrade your base walls to reinforced concrete if possible.
  • 6Build a shooting platform above your kill zone.

Day 7: Blood Moon Horde Night

  • 1Stay in your prepared base - do not go outside.
  • 2Have at least 200+ rounds of ammo ready.
  • 3Keep First Aid Kits and Bandages in your hotbar.
  • 4Repair walls between waves if possible.
  • 5Focus on headshots for faster kills.
  • 6The horde ends at 4:00 AM - just survive until then.

Essential Tips

  • 1Always carry water, food, a melee weapon, and bandages.
  • 2Screamers are attracted by forge and campfire heat - kill them fast.
  • 3Level up Perception for Lucky Looter to find better gear.
  • 4Invest in Advanced Engineering for crafting stations.
  • 5Zombies detect you through noise and heat signatures.
